Because Machine Factory Boessenkool has been ISO certified for a quarter of a century, owner-director Eelco Osse recently received the “25 years Quality Management Excellence” plaque. John Buis from Lloyd’s Register presented these for our ISO 9001, ISO 3834 and EN 1090 certifications.

With these certifications we want to make a clear distinction in the market. More and more clients are also explicitly asking for it. And because these are internationally recognized standards, certification provides even better opportunities for gaining ground abroad. After all, a certificate shows everywhere in the world that we have 100% met all the requirements of the relevant standard.

Lloyd’s Register (LR) is a global, independent organization for risk management and security guarantee. From offices at 246 locations in 78 countries, AE wants to improve and protect the current and future performance of companies. Through certification, they can demonstrate that their processes, products and services meet the relevant standards.

The mission of AE – a beautiful one! – is described in the articles of association. The task of LR is as follows:

‘secure for the benefit of the community high technical standards of design, manufacture, construction, maintenance, operation and performance, for the purpose of enhancing the safety of life and property at sea, on land, and in the air’ and to ‘advance public education within engineering and technological disciplines.’

Safety, that is what the work of AE has been about since 1760. All the time, all the money and every means is used to fulfill the mission: to protect lives and property and to promote education and research in transport and engineering.

LR contributes to a safer world through independent advice, broad knowledge, in-depth experience and close relationships.

Within the Marine sector it is mainly about the classification of ships, whereby standards for quality and reliability are set during the design, construction and use phase. Legal inspections are carried out for national administrations required by international shipping treaties and codes. And: within this sector, ship owners and crew are also helped to understand the risks and improve business performance.

Within the Energy sector, AE provides conformity testing, technical advice and business solutions to companies of all sizes and in every sector within the energy industry: upstream, downstream, power and manufacturing. They help companies to improve the safety, reliability and performance of their assets.

Management systems
The expertise of AE in business assurance and management systems is also world class. The goal is to help companies use management systems to reduce risk and improve business performance. In addition, AE provides certification for compliance with international standards for management systems.

We can safely call AE a leader in the assessment of business processes and products based on globally recognized standards. These standards come from large independent bodies or have been developed by AE itself. Independence is always paramount. Sure, government pressure and commercial pressure are inevitable. But nevertheless an organization such as AE – to be independent – must be free to make its own decisions. This allows us as a Boessenkool Machinefabriek and our customers to be able to rely on an impartial, technically correct assessment. We fully support LR’s drive for progress, maintaining high technical standards with regard to design, production, construction, maintenance, use and performance in many industries.

Machinefabriek Boessenkool received the “25 years Quality Management Excellence” plaque for the ISO 9001, ISO 3834 and EN 1090 certifications. What does all this entail? We are happy to list this for you:

ISO 9001 – Quality management
The most internationally known standard that contains guidelines and tools for quality management. The ISO 9001 is applied by more than one million companies and organizations in more than 170 countries. With our ISO 9001 certification, we show that our company meets international requirements in the field of quality management. Our LR certificate guarantees our customers and our network that quality is our top priority. Ultimately it is about managing results.

ISO 3834 – Welding
Welding metal is a special process and demands are made on the end product. Predetermined preconditions can be guaranteed, such as welder qualifications, method qualifications, welding technical design, management, storage and welding consumables. For example, it can be determined with a high degree of probability in advance that the end product will meet the requirements set. The ISO 3834 describes these preconditions and the level at which they must be regulated.

EN 1090 – Steel structures
The EN 1090 is a standard for producers who perform operations on basic products in order to make steel and / or aluminum structural parts. The standard specifies requirements for conformity assessment of load-bearing parts used in (building) structures. EN 1090 is also there for the steel and aluminum builders who want to put a CE mark on their products. There is a relationship here with ISO 3834.
